Wonderful cycling through the dunes and nature of Scheveningen and go via Meijendel to Katwijk or Noordwijk. Ideal combination of touristic sites and the peace of nature. Have a delicious lunch on the beach, drink there and relax.
I would send a family with children to the Tikibad (tropical pool) in Duinrell. Because if the kids have a good time, the parents often do too. Plus the kids are tired and satisfied in the evening and then the parents can enjoy a quiet nightcap at the bar while the kids are sleeping; fabulous!
My personal recommendation; First have a nice drink on the beach, then enjoy a simple but honest and great meal at Restaurant Santos or Bistro Bontje and then hit the dance floor at Crazy Pianos!
For those who want to eat out cheaply without compromising on good quality, I recommend Bistro Bontje. In thi classic Dutch pub you can almost eat the fantastic atmosphere, the food is simple but great! It’s located opposite the Circus Theatre, making it ideal for guests attending a musical show (Lion King!) or who want to eat a short walk away.
The Ooievaert (The Hague) is a good and fun cruise / tour through the old city’s canals. The area Old Scheveningen around the Keizerstraat with small old fisher cabins or houses is very nice to walk through.
My ultimate recommendation; First a nice stroll along the boulevard of Scheveningen, then eat at an outdoor cafe on The Pier. Great food, and the view over the beach of Scheveningen is great! Then finally it’s nice to have a drink at one of the great Beach Bars on the Boulevard, as Peukie or Zeezicht!
Scheveningen is the seaside resort of choice for those who love sun, sea, good food and drink, seasoned with a lovely pinch of culture. Tip: Museum Sculptures by the Sea, a surprising museum: fantastic sculptures, plaster workshops (especially fun for kids!) and Sea Life! And all of this is right in front of the Ibis hotel! The tram stops outside our door and brings you to the heart of The Hague in no time. Having a break halfway also pays off, especially if you and your kids would like to visit the Gemeentemuseum (Museum with the largest Mondriaan collection in the world!): my absolute favorite! Followed by a delicious bite to eat at one of the restaurants around the posh but classy Noordeinde and Denneweg area or go to one of the new trendy restaurants and bars around the Prinsesstraat. But the absolute highlight is really a ride in the new Ferris Wheel at The Pier! Then have some fish food at Simonis or eat in the nice and cozy atmosphere of the Golfslag. Finish your evening with a fantastic movie at Pathé Scheveningen
